Depicted in Luís de Camões' epic The Lusiads, Adamastor symbolized the immense challenges faced by explorers on their perilous journey to India. But when King John II of Portugal renamed the route the "Cape of Good Hope," the fearsome giant metamorphosed into a symbol of optimism and courage. In 2024, Scarlet Splendour collaborates with André Teoman Studio, born in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, to create Adamastor—a utilitarian sculpture celebrating cultural convergence and bridging history and modern design. This intricately designed contemporary baroque cabinet is more than just furniture; it’s a masterpiece that tells a powerful story, making it a bold, evocative addition to any space.
